According to the present invention, a power conversion mode control apparatus of a bidirectional direct current (DC)-direct current (DC) converter comprises: a control unit for determining total reference current to perform power conversion from a relatively large actual voltage side to a small actual voltage side compared to reference voltage by comparing a low voltage side voltage error with a high voltage side voltage error; and a duty command generation unit for generating a duty command based on the current difference between the total reference current and low voltage side current, and providing to a bidirectional DC-DC converter. Therefore, an autonomous seamless natural mode conversion in a direction to minimize a voltage error between low and high voltage sides is possible having no external command. There is no time lag due to a calculation time of a commander and CAN communications. A simple current controller is possible by combining current controllers into one.
