The present invention provides a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery comprising: a lithium manganese phosphate (LiMnPO_4) first particle having the particle diameter of 1 to 50 nm; and a lithium manganese phosphate second particle having the particle diameter of 500 nm to 1.5 μm. The positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery has high capacity/high output properties and excellent energy density per volume due to a nano-sized first particle which was not solved in existing LiMnPO_4 porous particles.
