The assembly (200) has first and second flaps (210,220) that are combined together in first position in which it is opened, and are separated in second position in which it is closed. The outer edge portion of first flap is overlapped with outer edge portion of second flap in region of vertical axis (230) parallel to center surface (260) of assembly so that joint (250) is offset from center surface. The flaps are designed so that the outer edges of the first and second flaps in the first position with respect to the center surface are provided with symmetrical opening width. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) rail vehicle; and (2) method for opening and closing front flap assembly.
