POLYMER NANOCOMPOSITES WITH LAYERED MINERALS, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME

The invention relates to the field of chemistry and to polymer nanocomposites with layered minerals, such as those which can be used as lightweight construction material, for example. The aim of the invention is to provide polymer nanocomposites with layered minerals which dispense with the need for organic additives for intercalation into the layered minerals. Said aim is achieved by means of polymer nanocomposites with organically unmodified layered minerals, consisting of a polymer matrix comprising mineral layers that are dispersedly distributed in said matrix to the point that the layers are completely exfoliated, said layered minerals being coupled to the polymer matrix in a covalent manner via functional groups. A maximum of 10 wt. % of organic additives is used to couple the polymer and the layer silicates. The aim of the invention is further achieved by a method in which the starting materials are exposed to shearing and/or tensile stresses in a melt, said materials being exposed to a high-energy beam of equally charged particles at least prior to or during the introduction of shearing and/or tensile stresses.
