<p>A catheter or sheath 10 includes an inner layer 20 made of a relatively hard material, an intermediate layer 22 formed of a strengthening or reinforcement member 24 and being provided with interstitial material 28 in the spaces between the elements of the strengthening member 24. Overlying the intermediate layer 22 is an outer layer 30 of, for example, polyamide. The interstitial material 28 is relatively soft, with a greater compressibility than the inner layer 20 which allows the catheter 10 to be bent to smaller radii of curvature than prior art catheters with reduced risk of kinking. A method of manufacturing is also disclosed.</p> |
