NETWORK PATH SETUP METHOD BASED ON IDENTIFIER, AND APPARATUS THEREOF

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for setting a communications path on a network. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for setting a network path in a relay device comprises the following steps: receiving a packet; determining whether transmission/reception node identifiers included in the received packet are stored in a routing table or not; and updating the routing table based on a corresponding node identifier and a port number used to transmit the packet with a corresponding node when a non-stored node identifier exists according to the determination result. According to embodiments of the present invention, the routing table is simplified, thereby rapidly retrieving the packet path. Furthermore, data traffic can be reduced since additional header definition is not required.
