[Also in Groups II and XII] A rotary kiln or drier 1 has a tube 7 encircling each end divided into compartments, Fig. 3 (not shown), or formed as annular sectors, Fig. 4 (not shown), each compartment having its own controllable air supply and being formed with slots 7a directed to prevent leakage of gases through the openings 14 formed with stationary parts of the kiln or drier. In the upper part of the latter at the head end 4, the slots are directed towards the openings 14, and in the lower part they are directed away. At the charging end 5, the tube 7 is within the casing with the slots directed towards the opening 14. |
