PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for adjusting an adjustable retaining structure that may be applied to manufacturing of different types of aircraft fuselages.SOLUTION: A method comprises: placing an aircraft fuselage panel onto a cradle fixture 600 having an adjustable retaining structure 655; and engaging the adjustable retaining structure 655 with the aircraft fuselage panel. The adjustable retaining structure 655 is passively rotated about the spherical interface 654 as a panel applies a load to the adjustable retaining structure 655.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
