918,542. Knitting machines. STEINHOF, K., [trading as STEINHOF, APPARATEFABRIK, KARL]. June 25, 1959 [June 27, 1958], No. 21816/59. Class 74 (2). A needle deflecting sheet at each end of the lock of a hand knitting machine consists of a metal strip 1 secured by its middle to the lock plate 9 and having surfaces 10 slightly curved so that the lock plate is substantially tangential thereto, the free ends of the strip being bent away at right angles to the lock plate to form needle butt deflecting ribs 3 which converge towards one another in the direction of the length of the needle bed, which have each an edge extending perpendicularly to the lock plate and terminating flush with an adjacent end edge of the associated needle guiding rail 4 (extending from and at right-angles to the lock plate) and which, when the strip is flexed towards the plate, come up against stops 12 before the strip can come into full surface contact with the lower surface of the plate. Thereafter, the strip can twist about a stop as fulcrum, this being facilitated by cut-aways 13. The stops are formed by offsets at the ends of the rails 4. The ribs 3 are trapezoidal. Specification 764,527 is referred to. |
