PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the frequency of access to a reference frame memory low in an image encoding device and an image decoding device.SOLUTION: The image encoding device includes a first encoder which performs intra-screen encoding, a second encoder which performs inter-screen encoding, and an intermediate buffer. A local decode image generated by the first encoder is held in the intermediate buffer as a reference image, and the inter-screen encoding by the second encoder which refers to the local decode image, is executed during a period in which the local decode image is held in the intermediate buffer. The image decoding device also similarly includes a first decoder which performs intra-screen decoding, a second decoder which performs inter-screen decoding, and an intermediate buffer. A local decode image generated by the first decoder is held in the intermediate buffer as a reference image, and the inter-screen decoding by the second decoder which refers to the local decode image, is executed during a period in which the local decode image is held in the intermediate buffer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
