PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizable electrode for a high-capacity electric double layer capacitor using activated carbon, capable of being manufactured simply and capable of reducing manufacturing cost furthermore.SOLUTION: A polarizable electrode for an electric double layer capacitor includes: first activated carbon obtained by subjecting at least one of wood, bamboo or chaff to activation treatment after the at least one has been subjected to carbonization treatment; and second activated carbon obtained by subjecting cotton to activation treatment after the cotton has been subjected to carbonization treatment. A liquid is added to the first activated carbon and the second activated carbon to be mixed, and the mixed product is molded into an electrode shape.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
