PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal lens device having a high-quality lens function, and an image display device.SOLUTION: One embodiment provides a liquid crystal lens device including a plurality of first electrodes, first and second sub-electrodes, a counter electrode, and a liquid crystal layer. Each first electrode extends in a first direction and is arranged in a second direction intersecting the first direction. The first and second sub-electrodes are disposed between two first electrodes most adjoining to each other. The liquid crystal layer is disposed between each electrode and the counter electrode. A distance between the first electrode and the first sub-electrode, and a distance between the first electrode and the second sub-electrode are longer than a distance between the first electrode and the counter electrode. A potential difference V1 between the first and second sub electrodes and the counter electrode, a potential difference V2 between the counter electrode and the first and second sub-electrodes, a distance P1 between the first electrodes, and a distance P2 between the first and second sub-electrodes satisfy that V2/V1 is equal to or less than P2/P1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
