<PICT:0976509/C1/1> The junction of the glass cone 1 and display face 3 of a cathode-ray tube is covered with an elastic cloth embedded in a synthetic resin 5, to minimize the risk and effects of implosion. The tube may first be coated with an adherence-improving layer 7 of polyvinyl-acetate, over which is stretched an elastic, circular-knitted glass fibre cloth, which is then sprayed with an unsaturated polyester resin.
