PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic thin film formation method which enables a dense monolayer film having little impurity to be quickly formed by using an eco-friendly solvent even when water content is low.SOLUTION: An organic thin film is formed by means of a method comprising a step 1) of preparing a hydroxy group- containing solution by mixing the following (a), (b) and (c) in an ether-based solvent in such a manner that the sum amount of (A) and (B) in the hydroxy group-containing solution gets to 0.1 to 80 wt.%, and performing hydrolysis thereby generating a hydroxy group-containing compound, a step 2) of mixing the hydroxy group-containing solution obtained in the step 1) and an organic solvent thereby preparing a solution for forming an organic thin film and a step 3) of bringing the solution for forming the organic thin film, obtained in the step 2) into contact with a substrate: (a) is an auxiliary agent for forming an organic thin film containing a metallic surface active agent (A) having at least one hydrolyzable group and a compound (C) which can interact with the metallic surface active agent; (b) is a metallic surface active agent (B) having at least one hydrolyzable group; and (c) is water.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
