PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image projection device configured to project an image of a high contrast ratio, while preventing reduction in light utilization efficiency.SOLUTION: An image projection device includes: a light source (2); an illumination optical system (6) where a light flux guided from the light source (2) is made incident; a spatial optical modulation element (7) where the light flux guided from the illumination optical system (6) is made incident; a projection optical system (8) where the light flux guided from the spatial optical modulation element (7) is made incident; and a light quantity reducing element (50) which reduces the quantity of light in a peripheral part of the light flux incident on the spatial optical modulation element (7).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
