PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for transporting a thick steel plate, with which a thick steel plate is transported at high efficiency.SOLUTION: A method for transporting a thick steel plate includes: a calculation step of calculating a congestion rate &thetas; indicating a congestion state of a plurality of thick steel plates S on a plurality of transport tables 32 contacted with each other in a row basis from a length of at least one thick steel plate S transported along the transport tables 32 when the thick steel plates S are transported on a transport line 3 made up of the transport tables 32; and a determination step of determining a transport speed V of the thick steel plate S lying on an upstream side in a transport direction beyond the transport tables 32 on the basis of the congestion rate &thetas; calculated by the calculation step.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
