PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for purifying THF, which can easily remove and separate peroxides in tetrahydrofuran and convert the peroxides to a thermally stable material even when concentrated, thereby enabling high quality tetrahydrofuran to be obtained and a tetrahydrofuran purification load to be decreased.SOLUTION: Tetrahydrofuran peroxide is converted to γ-butyrolactone by contacting a raw material tetrahydrofuran containing 10 to 1000 wt ppm of tetrahydrofuran peroxide with a solid acid catalyst.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
