摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device that is able to prevent erroneous detection of white paper, resulting from foreign matter such as dust, without impairing productivity in image reading.SOLUTION: An image reading device (100) that optically reads an image of a document (103) while conveying the document comprises: a first conveyance roller (111) and so on, which conveys the document along a conveyance path. In a reading position (R) set on the conveyance path, the image reading device has a line sensor (125) that acquires, as a document image, an image of a document conveyed by the first conveyance roller and so on. A dust detection part 303 for the image reading device (100) detects foreign matter present in the reading position on the basis of an acquired document image. If foreign matter is detected, a detection result generating section 304 generates information for specifying an image of foreign matter included in the document image. A white-paper detection part 307 excludes the document image in a predetermined range including the image specified by the generated information and determines whether the document (103) is a document having an image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
