According to the present invention, surface modification nanoparticles include nanoparticles with a diameter of 100 nm or less and a modifying agent connected to the surfaces of the nanoparticles. The surface modification nanoparticles have high selectivity and sensitivity regarding quaternary ammonium-based compounds, and exhibits a surface plasmon resonance phenomenon sufficiently enough to be seen with the naked eyes. A colorimetric detection method for the quaternary ammonium-based compounds using the surface modification nanoparticles comprises: an input step of inputting a detection target sample to a colorimetric sensor including the surface modification nanoparticles; and a sensing step of using the color change of the colorimetric sensor to detect whether the detection target sample includes the quaternary ammonium-based compounds of 1 ppm or greater. Accordingly, the method easily, quickly, and accurately detects an amount of the quaternary ammonium-based compounds while having a detection limit concentration rate appropriate for regulation value, and being capable of detecting the quaternary ammonium-based compounds on the field. |
