A lug 10 on a scaffolding standard is engaged by a socket 12 on a scaffolding tube 13, a screw 14 in the socket having a conical surface 14b adapted to engage the end of the lug and force undercut parts 12b of the socket against undercut parts of the lug. The inter-engaging undercut parts are inclined downwardly and inwardly towards the standard and the socket rests on stops at the bottom of the lugs. In a modification the lug has an upstanding part which is inserted between the screw 14 and the base 12a of the socket which is however of different construction to that of Fig. 1 and the screw 14 has a lock nut device. |
