PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select an image forming apparatus available to a user or a computer, and install corresponding driver software to the computer collectively.SOLUTION: When a user of a host computer 100 issues an instruction to install a printer driver 112 from an operation section 104, an inquiry section 109 prompts the user to input an identification code, and transmits an IP packet of an inquiry request including the identification code, to printers 120. A determination section 131 of each of the printer 120 responds to the host computer 100 via a response section 132 when the identification code included in the inquiry request is included in an identification number 134 or IC card information 135 in a storage section 102. A receiving section 110 generates an information list of IP addresses or the like included in the response packets transmitted from the printers 120, to be displayed on a display section 103.
