PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film having a small photoelastic coefficient and an excellent balance in transparency, heat resistance and flexibility, a resin composition that gives the film, and a polarizer protective film, a polarizing plate and an image display device using the film.SOLUTION: The resin composition comprises an acrylic resin having a cyclic structure in the main chain, and a cellulose ester. The cyclic structure is a structural unit derived from a substituted maleimide monomer in which a substituent on N is a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 12 carbon atoms. The acrylic resin has a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 120000 or more.SELECTED DRAWING: None
