PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a real time property without increasing throughput in a display device implementing a local dimming control, and to improve an image quality of an area where an image change occurs.SOLUTION: A display device comprises: control means that implements computation processing for determining light emission luminance on the basis of image data for each light emitting unit with one or more light sources as one light emitting unit, and causes the light emitting unit to emit light at the light emission luminance determined by the computation processing; detection means that compares data on first image displayed with a current frame and data on a second image to be displayed with a next frame, and detects a change part where there is a change relative to the first image in the second image; determination means that determines a computation target area targeted for implementing the computation processing of the light emission luminance relative to the frame of the second image so as to contain all light sources corresponding to the change part; and setting means that sets how a plurality of light sources in the computation target area is split into the light emission unit in accordance with a total quantity of light sources contained in the computation target area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
