摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicore optical fiber preform manufacturing method capable of easily manufacturing a multicore optical fiber having a plurality of cores in an optical fiber section, at a low loss and in a long size.SOLUTION: A multicore optical fiber preform manufacturing method performs sequentially: a cladding depositing step of flowing a material gas to the outside of a second quartz pipe and to the inside of a first quartz pipe 21 and heating the first quartz pipe 21 and the second quartz pipe with a heating tool thereby to deposit first glass fine particles diffused in the first quartz tube 21, on the first quartz pipe 21, thereby to form a cladding 26 of the optical fiber preform; a removal step of removing the heating appliance arranged on the inner side of the second quarts tube; and a core part depositing step of flowing the material gas into the inside of the second quartz tube heated in advance thereby to deposit second glass fine particles 27a thereby to form a core part of the optical fiber preform.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
