PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system capable of preventing a decrease in fluorescence intensity, projector, and a method for controlling the projector.SOLUTION: A lighting system comprises: a light source device for emitting excitation light; a first multiple lens array to which the excitation light is incident; a second multiple lens array provided at the subsequent stage of the first multiple lens array; a light collection optical system provided at the subsequent stage of the second multiple lens array; a phosphor layer provided at the subsequent stage of the light collection optical system; and an interval adjustment device for adjusting an interval between the first multiple lens array and the second multiple lens array in accordance with the intensity of the excitation light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
