<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably accelerate the start of an internal combustion engine in a start/stop operation mode. <P>SOLUTION: A high pressure accumulator 10 includes a first volume 26 and a second volume 38. Both volumes 26, 38 are mutually separated by a check valve 30. The check valve is closed at a start of the internal combustion engine, and fuel is supplied to a fuel injector exclusively through a smaller volume of both volumes thereby. System pressure is remarkably and quickly built up in the smaller volume in the start/stop operation of the internal combustion engine. The smaller volume is in an order of 2 mm<SP>3</SP>-5 mm<SP>3</SP>. The second volume is larger than the smaller volume by 10, 15 or 20 times. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
