Disclosed is an optical information storage medium such as an optical tape, two alternative embodiments of which are shown. The medium includes a substrate (18), a pre-format layer (16) on one side of the substrate (18), and a back side coating (20). The back side coating (20) is optically transparent and is electrically conductive. The pre-format layer (16) is placed between the back side coating (20) and the substrate (18). The pre-format layer (16) is not immediately adjacent the back side coating (20). |
