Disclosed is the use of at least one of a nucleotide at a concentration of 42 mg/L to 102 mg/L and a carotenoid in the manufacture of an infant formula for reducing obesity later in life, wherein the infant formula is indicated for administration to an infant in need thereof in the first year of life, wherein the infant formula has an energy content of less than 650 Kcal/L.
