The present invention relates to an X-ray imaging apparatus and a control method for the same. The X-ray imaging apparatus comprises: an X-ray source which irradiates an object with an X-ray; a sensor which is mounted on the X-ray source; and a control unit which obtains the volume of the object based on the output value of the sensor, determines the extent of obesity of the object based on the volume of the object, and adjusts an irradiation value of the X-ray based on the extent of obesity of the object. When the sensor includes a plurality of image sensors, the output value of the sensor includes an inclined angle of the image sensors while the X-ray source moves. According to the X-ray imaging apparatus and the control method for the same, it is possible to automatically detect characteristics of the object, such as the extent of obesity. Moreover, it is possible to automatically adjust the intensity of the X-ray based on the detected characteristics of the object, and thus, to improve the quality of an X-ray image. |
