PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To charge a portable device by using a USB charger to enable communication between the portable device and a peripheral device.SOLUTION: A cable assembly 100 is connected to a micro AB receptacle 51. A micro AB plug 105 is connected to the micro AB receptacle 51. The cable assembly 100 outputs a voltage to a VBUS pin of the micro AB plug 105 and connects an ID pin thereof to a ground when a USB charger 60 is connected. If determining that the ID pin of the micro AB plug 105 is connected to the ground after passage of predetermined time since a voltage equal to or higher than a predetermined value is detected at the VBUS pin, a portable device charges a battery and communicates with a peripheral device 70 connected to the cable assembly 100. When the USB charger is disconnected, the portable device does not output a voltage to a VBUS line since the ID pin of the micro AB plug is in a floating state.
