PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a method for identifying a patient who may benefit from treatment with an anti-cancer therapy comprising a VEGF antagonist; a method for monitoring the patient's response to the anti-cancer therapy; and kits and articles of manufacture for use in the methods.SOLUTION: A method comprises determining an expression level of VEGFin a sample obtained from a patient, where a level of VEGFin the sample obtained from the patient at or above a reference level indicates that the patient may benefit from treatment with an anti-cancer therapy.
