The invention relates to novel crystalline compounds having the empirical formula (M1)3x(M2)3y(M3)3z(O3C3N3)x+2y+3z, where (M1) stands for monovalent, (M2) stands for divalent, and (M3) stands for trivalent metals, which can be the same or different, C stands for carbon, N stands for nitrogen, O stands for oxygen, and x, y, and z stand, independently of each other, for a number between 0 and 1. In particular, the invention relates to compounds having the empirical formula M3(O3C3N3)2 or mixed crystal compounds having the empirical formula M3-xM'x(O3C3N3)2, where M and M' stand, independently of each other, for a divalent metal and x stands for a number between 0 and 3. Examples of the compounds according to the invention are CCY Ca3(O3C3N3)2, SCY Sr3(O3C3N3)2, ECY Eu3(O3C3N3)2, and mixed crystals of said compounds. The invention further relates to the method for producing said compounds and to the use of said compounds as non-linear optical materials. |
