Provided are a method and device for transmitting a random access preamble, which relate to the field of communications, and improve a resource utilization rate of a random access channel. The method comprises: receiving preamble configuration information and resource configuration information sent by a network side device, frequency bandwidths of resources which are indicated by the resource configuration information and can be used for transmitting a random access preamble being at least NRB RACH physical resource blocks, wherein NRB RACH is an integer, and 1≤NRB RACH ≤3; generating the random access preamble according to the preamble configuration information; and determining the resources used for transmitting the random access preamble according to the resource configuration information, and using the resources to transmit the random access preamble, frequency bandwidths of the resources used for transmitting the random access preamble being NRB RACH physical resource blocks, wherein the NRB RACH physical resource blocks contain NSC RACH sub-carriers, and NSC RACH = (180000 / Δf RA) × NRB RACH and is an integer, where Δf RA is a sub-carrier interval of the random access preamble, and 312.5 Hz≤Δf RA≤625 Hz. The embodiments of the present invention are used for transmitting a random access preamble. |
