<p>Abstract A lifting apparatus for an object, releasably affixable at an elevated position. The apparatus comprises at least one support, with each support being releasably connected to one or more first brackets that are adapted to affix the support at the elevated position. A second bracket is adapted to releasably connect the support to a rail member. A trolley, which is releasably connected to and traversable along the rail member is also provided. The trolley has a lifting mechanism configured to retract and deploy at least one retractable element and a retention means, located at a lower end thereof for retaining the object.
