PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cooling device and an exhaust gas cooling method ensuring high exhaust gas cooling efficiency.SOLUTION: An exhaust gas cooling device 1 spraying cooling liquid W1 to exhaust gas and cooling the exhaust gas, comprises: a cooling tower 2 including an exhaust gas inlet port 3 and an exhaust gas exhaust port 4 and cooling the exhaust gas inside; a storage tank storing the cooling liquid W1 used to cool the exhaust gas; a pump 11 feeding the cooling liquid W1 from within the storage tank to the cooling tower 2; and a nozzle 7 disposed in the cooling tower 2 and spraying the cooling liquid W1 fed from within the storage tank to the exhaust gas, the nozzle 7 being one fluid nozzle including an orifice having a diameter equal to or smaller than 1.5 mm and spraying the cooling liquid W1 in a mist state at a pressure equal to or higher than 2 MPa, and a Sauter mean diameter of the cooling liquid W1 sprayed from the nozzle 7 being equal to or smaller than 60 μm. |
