PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device that facilitates an operation for transition from a normal photographing mode to a panoramic photographing mode of recording a composite image in which a plurality of images photographed from different imaging directions are composed, and determination of a position of an initial image; a control method and program of the same; and a recording medium.SOLUTION: While a live view image is displayed on a display part 28 in a normal photographing mode, a user simultaneously touches two points on a touch panel 48 and performs an operation to reduce the distance between the two points. In response to the operation, a system control part 32 shifts from the normal photographing mode to a panoramic photographing mode, and determines an initial image to be composed at a position on a display screen that is specified by the operation to reduce the distance between the two points.
