<p>The present disclosure provides a production unit and a method for cultivating aquatic microorganisms for harvesting the microorganisms or product thereof, the unit comprises (a) at least one feed reservoir with a feed culture of microorganisms for use as a microorganisms' inoculum; (b) a plurality of at least N/M production reservoirs, N being a number of days between inoculation of a production reservoir with the feed culture and an intended day of harvest of microorganism from the same production reservoir or of a product thereof and M being the number of days between successive days of inoculation in the production unit; and (c) the unit being operable such that (i) every M days one production reservoir is harvested and (ii) on same day or on a day between successive harvest days at least one production reservoir is inoculated with a feed culture from the feed reservoir.</p> |
