1,020,883. Bearings. ESCHER WYSS A.G. Oct. 16, 1962 [Oct. 20, 1961], No. 39190/62. Heading F2A. In a fluid bearing, pressurized lubricant is supplied to a depression 2 in a slide track 1. The depression 2 is bounded by an edge-piece 5 which is movable by the pressurized lubricant so that a portion thereof is lifted above the sliding surface of the track 1. The amount the edge-piece 5 is lifted is limited by a portion 5a thereof abutting plates 6 which are attached to the track 1 by screws 7. In an embodiment, pressurized lubricant is supplied at 3, Fig. 1 (not shown), and bellows 9 are provided, the expansion of which raises the edge-piece 5. In a modification the bellows 9 are replaced by a soft packing. In another modification, the depression 2 is in a slidable piece 13, Fig. 3 (not shown), and forms a narrow edge 13a thereon. Projections 13b of the piece 13 limit the upward movement thereof by abutting a member 17, which is secured by screws 16 to the track 1. Pressurized lubricant, supplied at 3, enters a chamber 14, raises the piece 13, passes through a duct 15 in the piece 13 and enters the depression 2. The slide-track 1 and the part 4 can be replaced by a sleeve and spindle. |
