In an embodiment, a channel box is provided that suppresses the generation of hydrogen through reaction with moisture and simultaneously achieves strength, fracture toughness, and fracture energy. A channel box according to an embodiment has a tubular part. A side wall part of the tubular part has a first layer, a second layer, and an intermediate layer. The main component of the first layer is silicon carbide. The second layer is laminated over the first layer and has silicon carbide fibers and silicon carbide composited with the silicon carbide fibers. The intermediate layer is disposed between the first layer and second layer and has a solid lubricant. |
