Disclosed are a device and a method for monitoring abnormal behavior using three-dimensional image information. The monitoring device converts depth information, which is three-dimensional image information, into real-world coordinates, and calculates a plane based distance value using the real-world coordinates. The monitoring device creates a background model using the plane based distance value, and detects an area of interest by comparing the plane based distance value of the current image with the background model. In addition, the monitoring device determines abnormal behavior of an object by extracting three-dimensional feature information in the area of interest. |
