878,141. Centre-drilling. KEHR, G., and WICHMANN, C. May 20, 1960 [Feb. 11, 1960], No. 17796/60. Class 83 (3). Apparatus for cleaning centre-holes in hardened shafts, pinions, &c., comprises two stationary oppositely-disposed hard-metal cutting points adapted to be engaged and tightened in the centre-holes of a workpiece and means for rotating the workpiece. The apparatus includes a headstock and tailstock adjustable along guide bars 32, Fig. 1. The hard metal cutting points 10, 21 are carried in stationary sleeves 20, 26, Figs. 3 and 4. The part 20 carries a rotatable belt pulley 15 which has a dog 18 on its front face for rotating the work 11, Fig. 1. The tailstock 27, Fig. 4, has the sleeve 26 slidable and adjustably spring-pressed towards the work. The centre-point may be retracted against the spring-pressure by a wire 28 secured to the sleeve 26 which is led to a foot-pedal. The work is held approximately on the centre line in V-rests 31, Fig. 1. Coolant is supplied through pipes 37 and 38. Chucks. An auxiliary centre-drill, Fig. 7 (not shown), may be carried in one of the centrepoint members and is spring-pressed outwardly thereof. |
