PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas detection device that copes with the blunting of sensor output under influences of an accumulated moisture content and makes it possible to detect whether a moisture content has accumulated in the sensor by taking the effect of miscellaneous gases into account.SOLUTION: The present invention is a gas detection device which, by using a sensor element 1 having a gas detection layer 6 whose electrical characteristic changes upon contact with a gas and a heater layer 4 capable of heating the gas detection layer 6, intermittently applies a voltage to the heater layer 4 on a prescribed cycle t, sending electricity for a prescribed electricity conduction time t, and, while thereby heating the gas detection layer 6, detects a gas on the basis of the electrical characteristic of the gas detection layer 6, wherein moisture content accumulation in the gas detection layer 6 is detected by a moisture content accumulation device 10 by taking the effect of miscellaneous gases into account, the detected moisture content accumulation is conveyed to the moisture content detection means 7b of a microcomputer control circuit 7, and the moisture content detection means 7b instructs heater control means 7a via moisture content accumulation recovery means 7h to execute a recovery process for eliminating the accumulated moisture content. |
