Disclosed is a composition comprising a 5a-reductase inhibitor. Forming a liquid crystal upon exposure to an aqueous fluid, the composition can release the 5a-reductase inhibitor at a constant rate over a long period of time. In addition, the composition can significantly alleviate irritations attributed to the topical administration of the 5a-reductase inhibitor, and thus the composition has improved safety.
