PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that is effective to improve images with uneven toner density and can improve image qualities.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an endless intermediate transfer belt 31 that conveys a sheet type medium carrying a toner image, and the image forming apparatus has a system speed of 400 to 2000 mm/sec. The intermediate transfer belt has a layered structure in which at least a first layer comprising a substrate, and a second layer comprising an elastic material having a rugged pattern on a surface thereof by arranging spherical resin particles in the plane direction are successively layered, and the belt is adjusted to have each specific range of a surface resistance, a volume resistance, and surface roughness. The second layer has a film thickness of 200 μm to 2000 μm and the spherical resin particles have a volume average particle diameter of 0.5 μm to 5.0 μm. The toner used comprises base particles formed of color particles produced by emulsifying or dispersing a toner material in an aqueous medium and then granulating, and contains at least two types of external additives adhering to the surfaces of the base particles. |
