PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high purity vinylene carbonate which is economically obtained from crude vinylene carbonate containing chlorine compounds as impurities.SOLUTION: The crude vinylene carbonate is dissolved in a polar solvent and/or an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent and subsequently vinylene carbonate is precipitated.
