PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a favorable transmission method and apparatus using a codebook in a wireless communication system supporting multiple antennas.SOLUTION: A terminal transmits first and second precoding matrix indices (PMIs) to a base station, and the base station receives them S4410. The base station determines a precoding matrix indicated by a combination of the received first and second PMIs from a codebook S4420, and maps a downlink signal to R layers (1≤R≤8) S4430. The base station precodes the layer-mapped downlink signal by using the precoding matrix S4440, and transmits the precoded downlink signal to the terminal S4450.
