PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for treating humin-containing waste water, in each of which humin is removed simply and easily from the humin-containing waste water and the humin-removed waste water is treated by membrane filtration with high stability.SOLUTION: The method for treating humin-containing waste water comprises: a step of adjusting the pH of the humin-containing waste water to 7 or lower; a step of insolubilizing humin in the waste water; a removal step of removing the insolubilized humin; and a membrane filtration step of subjecting the humin-removed waste water obtained at the removal step to membrane filtration. An apparatus 1 for treating humin-containing waste water includes: a treatment tank 11 which is constituted by integrating an insolubilization tank for insolubilizing the humin with a removal tank for removing the insolubilized humin; and a membrane filtration unit 20 for subjecting the humin-removed waste water to membrane filtration.
