<p>Safety apparatus for use in fall prevention for persons carrying out repairs or other work on a roof is described. The apparatus can be provided in kit form. It includes a post adapted to support a barrier rail and means for temporarily attaching the post to a roof structure, in particular making use of a fascia board. The attachment means is shaped to engage with the roof structure, in particular having a hook that hooks over the board from within a gutter, where present. A bracing extension is provided from the post to the facia board for location against the fascia board or a wall below the line of the gutter, while the post extends upwardly beyond the outermost perimeter of the gutter.
