Provided are a liquid discharge apparatus and a medium transport method with which the occurrence of condensation at the discharge surface of a liquid discharge head is limited and reliable liquid discharge is accomplished. The liquid discharge apparatus is provided with a liquid discharge head (56), a transport section (52) that supports and transports a medium (S), a blower unit (65) that is disposed on the upstream side of the liquid discharge head in the medium transport direction or on the downstream side of the liquid discharge head in the medium transport direction and that limits a change in orientation of the medium by blowing air toward the medium, a temperature regulating unit (68) that is disposed on the opposite side of the blower unit from the liquid discharge head in relation to the medium transport direction and that adjusts the temperature of the object to which temperature regulation is applied to a temperature that exceeds the temperature in the vicinity of the liquid discharge head or to a temperature that is less than the temperature in the vicinity of the liquid discharge head, and a blower control unit (138) that controls the operation of the blower unit and that sends the blower unit a stop operation command to stop operation or a reduce blowing command to reduce the air blowing, using blowing region pass-through timing, which is when the medium passes through the blower unit blowing region. |
