<p>[00149] A motorised drive system (10) for racking a low voltage air circuit breaker (11) between connected, test and disconnected positions. The motorised drive system (10) is configured as a unit (31) adapted to be mounted onto the front of the air circuit breaker (11). The unit (31) comprises a drive arrangement (35) having a rotatable drive shaft (61). The drive shaft (61) extends outwardly from the unit (31). The drive shaft (61) is adapted to be inserted into an access hole opening onto the front of the air circuit breaker (11) to access the racking mechanism of the air circuit breaker. The drive shaft (61) has a drive end (63) for driving engagement with the input of the racking mechanism. An electric motor (67) has an output shaft drivingly coupled to the drive shaft (61) through a right angle drive (69), whereby the drive axis of the motor (67) is at right angles to the axis of rotation of the drive shaft 61. This arrangement provides the unit (31) as a compact assembly which can locate snugly adjacent the front of the air circuit breaker (11). Optionally, the drive shaft (61) is so configured as to avoid detection when in engagement with the input of the racking mechanism, thereby to avoid the air circuit breaker (11) being rendered inoperative when the unit (31) is mounted in position.
